Present Moment

Present Moment

Here it is- the famous ‘Present moment’

Just live in the moment- they say, and you’re like:

Or, most of the time, most of us, live like this:

LOL Enough of those lousy memes of mine ๐Ÿ˜‰ Let seriously jump into the topic.

How it actually feels like?

To be in Present Moment.

As always I encourage to start small, with chunk-able pieces.

Open Eyes Meditation.

I found, often very comforting meditating with open eyes, where I stare at the wall
in front of me while I comfortably sit on the couch.
I’d allow my vision to soften, but actually widen, kind of peripheral vision.
That soft gaze where everything blends in together a bit.

Why open eye vs recommended close?

Many times when I close my eye my mind goes on heavy trip and
presents me with so much visuals, pattern, so much shape shifting images.
And it goes on and on. You close your eyes to have less sensory input- as to
quite down the mind. But in my case sometimes it increases the noise of the mind.

I do this little exercise to get myself in present moment,
and at the same time- meditative state.

HOW?

  1. Your body is comfortable and undisturbed.
  2. Soften your gaze (the way I talked about it above)
  3. Start activating each of the senses 1 by 1:
-Just focus on Hearing things around you:
don’t judge them, no comment- just notice the sound. Do this for 15sec.
    -Focus on your Body:
How energy is pulsating in your hands, how heavy or light it feels,
feel your butt on the couch, feel the gravity pulling you down, notice how your clothes feel on your skin.
    -Focus on Vision:
Gently zoom in on 1 specific detailed point, focus on it, you can move your laser vision much further out, play with your vision, gently register things around you with your eyes.
  4. Finally;
Feel all of mentioned above all at once, allow the presence- the awareness to register all of it at once. The hearing, the body and the vision.

And that is what is called: “To be, In Present moment”
This is also how you can do meditation with open eyes.

You can do couple of cycles, for example:
Warm your sense up only by focusing on each one for 10sec for 3 cycles- before merging them to one. And then you can increase and focus on each sense for 1min, before merging it back to one. Play around with this method and adjust to your liking.

Daily “regular” Present Moment Practices

Even sometimes when you just have a nice long gaze at the sun or
something beautiful, and you just step back down to the observer mode.
It feels soo good isn’t it?

Or another good example is staring at the fire- the burning wood in the fireplace,
or campfire is so hypnotizing, relaxing- meditating.

Those are all valid meditative moments.
Those small things add up.

On top of your daily must 5min meditation that always extends 10min anyway.
Makes a powerful habit- that will catapult you so fast to other levels of consciousness.

TL;DR:

-You can meditate with open eyes thru being in the present moment thru your senses.

-Easiest way to bring attention to very present moment is thru senses.

-Soft gaze, peripheral vision- helps establish meditative/relaxed state- To be in present moment.

-There is plenty of small meditative moments in your day that add up to your practices.

Look be like this guy, he is definitely living in The Present Moment ๐Ÿ˜‰
